Background Landiolol, a short-acting, highly-β1-selective beta-blocker with- out negative inotropic effect, could offer the opportunity to mod- ulate heart rate and/or rhythm in different critical settings. Echo- cardiographic estimate of hemodynamic parameters is a useful way to monitor critically ill patients and evaluate the effects of the ongoing therapy.

Background Gallbladder cancer (GBC), the most common biliary tract malignancy, shows high incidence in Amerindian Chilean women and poor survival rates. Caveolin-1 (CAV1) may act as a tumour sup- pressor or promoter depending on E-cadherin (E-cadh) expres- sion, but its specific role in GBC progression remains unclear. 1.2.
